SUMMARY:BOWDA - Solar and Geothermal Trends and Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:Want to know more about current trends in the solar/PV and geothermal world for your home or project? We will welcome Solar Alberta's executive director Heather McKenzie and John Managh from Hellbent Geothermal to share more about their respective industries. We will have time for a Q & A period following their presentations.\n\n\n\nHeather MacKenzie is the Executive Director of Solar Alberta\, where she and her team are working hard to accelerate Alberta's transition to a just and sustainable energy future. She is a seasoned leader\, community organizer\, and green business advocate. Prior to becoming the Executive Director of Solar Alberta\, she worked as a government relations professional\, ran her own business\, and served as an elected Trustee on the Edmonton Public School Board. She is in the midst of completing a Masters in Public Administration\, has a Masters in International Development\, and has undergraduate degrees in both Sociology and History. She believes that investing in solar is a very concrete way that everyday Albertans can take meaningful action on climate change.\n\n\n\nJohn started Hellbent Geothermal in 2007 to meet a growing demand for lower heating and cooling costs in areas unserviced with natural gas. Since then\, Hellbent has designed and built hundreds of systems across BC & AB.\n\nOver this period\, while acquiring the requisite 10000 hours of expertise\, John has focused on "open-loop" geo-exchange\, making it his speciality niche.\n\nCanmore\, revered with the massive Bow Valley Aquifer underfoot\, has been the perfect testbed to prove this clean\, cost competitive technology\, especially in larger multi-unit buildings.\n\nJohn lives near Golden BC\, with Brenda\, his wife + partner of 40 years
